Presentations and online pages for the last week
Presentations should be summaries of useful experiences from the course projects. The presentations can be presented live (by synchronously present team members) or by posting the presentation as a video or set of online pages. Live presentations should take about 10-15 minutes. Online presentations are also possible but should be arranged in advance. Online presentations should be submitted to the D2L discussion board on Project Presentations and Discussion.
The goal of the presentation is to provide other students with useful, generalizeable lessons from your experience. Findings and discussions could be useful for the final report.
The presentation is not formally graded, but contribution to the presentation and discussion counts towards the participation towards week 10.
Contents
You may include anything you like in your presentation that is related to your projects. I recommend that you consider the following components (but only select a few at most!):
- Overview of your survey and goal
- An important, perhaps surprising, finding obtained from the cognitive interview
- An explanation of what you plan to compare for the comparison requirement
- A useful lesson learned from designing the survey or conducting the cognitive interview
- Challenges and approaches to recruiting survey participants
Only select a small subset of these topics! Just choose those that you think would be of most value to the class.
If you use slides, I suggest limiting your total presentation to approximately 5 slides, spending 2-4 minutes on each one.
Format
There is no specific format. In-class presentations may be done as a group or one individual may represent the whole team. Presentation materials may be used (e.g. powerpoint slides, figures) but are not required. Presentations may also be supplemented with slides or videos posted to the D2L discussion board.
While all team members should contribute to the content of the presentation, only one or two members need to actually present. All present members are encouraged to answer questions and engage in discussion. Non-present team members may still receive participation credit if there contribution is acknoweldged in the presentation.
