Team Project 2
Survey Evaluation
Due Sunday March 9 before 11:30pm

Overview

Working with a team, you will each perform two cognitive interviews on your proposed survey, share your results and revise your questions based on your results. Finally, your team will distribute the survey according to your proposal.

Cognitive Interview Requirements

Similar to the second assignment, develop a cognitive interview study. It should include the following:

  • Overview explaining the interview and its goals
  • Informed consent
  • Instructions to complete the survey with a think aloud protocol
  • Anticipated probes requesting further explanation

You are encouraged you rely on your work and experiences from the second individual assignment. It's fine to use one of your scripts and report to create starting materials.

After you have created an interview guide, each individual should conduct two cognitive interviews and share the results. The final report is similar in organization to the second assignment. However, be sure to include how the questions were revised.

Deliverables

Create a report with the following sections:

  1. Executive Summary
  2. Description of the survey
  3. Summary of your method
  4. Results
  5. Findings
  6. Appendix including details of informed consent, method, and detailed results, individual contributions

The executive summary is a one paragraph (maybe two) overview of your whole report. It should include at least one important finding and a summary of how the questions were revised.

In the appendix, include how individuals contribute to the project.

Team Process

The following is a recommended set of team phases and deadlines:

  • Share assignment 2 experiences (Tuesday February 25). Individuals share experiences or materials for individual cognitive interview.
  • Finalize Plan (Friday February 28). Finalize interview scripts.
  • Conduct individual cognitive interviews (Tuesday March 4). Conduct individual interviews and post results for others to review.
  • Share and consolidate findings (Friday March 7). Organize results, create findings based on results, and revise questions based on findings.
  • Finalize report and distribute survey (Sunday March 9). Finalize report. Submit! Review final survey questions and distribute!

Submission

The submitted document should use a common presentation format, ideally PDF. Submit the document through D2L. A rubric for grading the assignment is present with the dropbox submission folder.

Grading

This project is worth 10% of the course grade and will be reviewed using the following criteria:

  • Completeness. All requirements are addressed, including documentation of informed consent.
  • Clarity. The method is clearly presented.
  • Support of findings. Results are plausible given the method. The results support the findings. Revisions are based on findings.
  • Ease of review. The document is organized and content presented to faciliate review of the above criteria.

Generally, all team members receive the same score. In exceptional cases, where some individuals are contributing substantially more or less, differing scores will be assigned.
