Root Concept Proposal for Project
Due Friday January 17 before 11:30pm

Overview

For this assignment, you will propose a project idea (root concept) that might be used for a team project in this class.

Project Guidelines

A successful proposal will be based on an idea that does the following:

• Addresses a small problem
• Involves users that you will be able to interview
• Suggests a web/phone app as a solution

Hobbies, common work activities, entertainment or household responsibilities could be sources for ideas. A customized information dashboard is a probable candidate for the project, but the proposal does not need to be limited to that. You may also consider existing web sites or apps that could be simplified or customized for specific uses.

Since this proposal might be adopted by other students in the class, you shouldn't propose an idea that you don't want to share.

Proposal Contents

The proposal should consist of the following:

• An identifying title for your proposal
• An overview statement of the project
• One usage scenario that illustrates how your proposal might be used

Submission

Instead of submitting to a D2L dropbox, you will submit your proposal as a post on a D2L forum so that others may read it. Here are the steps you should take:

1. Write your proposal, clearly labeling the required elements.
2. Start a new thread in the Project Proposals topic on D2L.
3. Use your proposal title as a subject and copy the remaining concents into the body of the post.
4. Review your post, making any necessary edits to improve formatting or presentation.
5. Post and then review other student threads. Feel free to comment with ideas.

Grading

This assignment is worth 10 points and will be reviewed using the following criteria:

• Completeness. The proposal contains all required elements.
• Presentation. The proposal is well organized and written. Formatting is professional and facilitates efficient review.
